Pete Bevacqua, who was welcomed into the family of NBC Sports Group as the President is going to get more responsibilities in the upcoming days. Pete Bevacqua, who joined the company in September, last year is working as the President of the most popular subsidiaries of NBC, i.e., NBC Sports Group. Now, he will be given additional responsibility for the NBCUniversal unit, which is due to the recent restructuring of the executive ranks of NBCUniversal.
Bevacqua was able to retain his role as the president of the NBC Sports Group, but he was asked to oversee the entire NBC Sports Group portfolio, NBC Olympics, operations, production and many other portfolios with immediate effect.
Bevacqua has already been managing programming, digital, marketing, golf, and NBC Sports Regional Networks. When it comes to as to who does Bevacqua report to, then that’s Mark Lazarus, who is the chairman of NBC Broadcast, News, Sports, and Cable. He will remain the Chairman of the company whose headquarters is based at Stamford, Connecticut.
The move to let Pete Bevacqua see NBC Sports Group and NBCUniversal comes after the Chairman of the company, Mark Lazarus was given new oversight at NBCUniversal. Lazarus is now supervising the company’s East Coast-based content businesses, which include CNBC, NBC News Group and Cable Entertainment Portfolio in addition to NBC Affiliate Relations, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations and NBC Sports Group.
Mark Lazarus has also issued a statement in which he heaps praises on Pete Bevacqua by saying that he is a proven leader in the sports industry. He further said that Bevacqua has the capability of identifying talented people, which is the reason why NBC Sports unit is growing exponentially under his leadership.
Before Pete Bevacqua joined NBC Sports Group, he was working with PGA of America where he served as the CEO of the company from 2012 to the beginning of 2018. Before that, Pete Bevacqua worked as a Global Head of Golf at Creative Artists Agency, USGA as Chief Business Officer and at US Open Championship as Managing Director.
Pete Bevacqua has also issued a statement in which he said that he is extremely excited to work with Mark Lazarus and the incredible team of NBC who is passionate and motivated to work for the growth of the company.
With NBC Sports already doing great on all fronts, it will be interesting to see what Pete Bevacqua can add to the company because the man is full of great ideas and proven experience in the field of sports.
